Work

Caring for children and their families each day is a privilege. I practice child neurology at Washington University in St. Louis/St. Louis Children's Hospital. When not in clinic, I research the effects of neurological disorders on the brain using functional MRI.

If you're a patient trying to reach my office:
  • Call (314) 454-6120 Mon-Fri from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
  • For emergencies after hours, call the hospital operator at (314) 454-6000 and ask to speak to neurology on call.

Play

When it's time to recharge, there's nothing better than spending time outdoors with my wife Amanda! Whether it's a hike in Rockwoods Reservation or working in our backyard garden, we love spending time in nature.

Adventures

So Much To Do

So little time.

  • Child Neurologist

I am a child neurologist at Washington University in St. Louis/St. Louis Children's Hospital. My clinical interests are in concussion, ADHD, headache, epilepsy, and conversion disorder.

  • Neuroscientist

My lab is in the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology where I use functional MRI and statistics/machine learning to understand the link between neurological disorders and cognition.

  • Computer Programmer

I code in Rust, Python, Matlab, and C++ for fun and for science. Check out my projects on Github.

  • Husband

I am so lucky to be married to Dr. Amanda Zerkel! Amanda is a veterinarian at the Humane Society in Maryland Heights, where you can get care for your pet or adopt an animal in need.

  • Outdoorsman

Be it over trail, on the water, or underwater, it's great to be outdoors! Most weekends you can find Amanda and I hiking near Rockwoods Reservation or helping out on her parents' hobby farm.

  • Chef

Savory or sweet, domestic or international, cooking or baking, I have a special place in my heart (and stomach) for food.

Get in Touch

I love meeting new people, but I'm too old fashioned for social networking.
